About the Artist

I grew up in Lander, Wyoming, in a landscape that teaches you to pay attention to sagebrush, silvery blues, the small things that hold their ground. I earned my BFA in graphic design from the Art Institute of Portland in 2011 and built a fifteen-year career in the field. In 2024, I made the decision to pursue painting as my primary practice.

 

I now live in the San Juan Islands, where my work is shaped by the Salish Sea its tide lines, its food systems, the quiet persistence of things like camas and kelp. Each year, I return to Wyoming, and that movement between high desert and island shoreline has become part of how I work. I don't think of it as travel away from the studio it's where the next piece often starts.

My paintings sit at the intersection of place and stewardship. Landscapes that ask to be looked at closely, and taken seriously. I'm early in this chapter as a fine artist, having spent over a decade building a career in design before committing fully to painting. That timing means I bring a practiced eye and a clear sense of craft to work that is, in many ways, just beginning. I'm currently a resident artist at the San Juan Islands Museum of Art, and I'm building a body of work rooted in island life and sustainable culture.
